You are so right, America is meant to be traveled by car. I mean, it could be trains but as you say, the infrastructure is lacking. It would be cool to have a safe network of roads where to cycle, but here maybe because of the speeds at which cars drive even in secondary roads, it feels suicidal to attempt at times.

I'm glad you stopped. It made me remember the time when I was young and hitchhiked the Chilean Patagonia.
