Yes, I remember it. When I was reading it felt very real indeed. At the time I thought it was something from the news (I remember hearing some similar story like that at some point a few years ago. Immigration agents questioning people’s identities based on race).
But yes, it was an interesting experience. Today I was thinking that either I really liked people there or not as much. There seemed to be no middle ground, there was no room for indifference. (The only issue was with authority figures, I wonder if it was the outlaw in me that attracted them!).
But I was glad I was able to get the bicycle through, although because I’m a little superstitious, I was nervous afterwards. But I shouldn’t blame my poor performance on the poor customs guy. I need to train a little bit more to do better!
