traceybyfire, your article is dangerous and misleading. From the clickbait in the title which is implying the medical provider fondled your breasts, to your decision not to seek medical care from a different provider.
In your defense, I would say the Doctor should have had a chaperone.
And he should have asked you to move the breast out of the way. Which in my experience is also awkward because the mere fact of acknowledging the breast can at times be awkward.
However, what this medical professional was most likely trying to do is to properly assess your heart to rule out heart murmurs or abnormal heartbeats that could potentially affect your life.
I am a Registered Nurse, and I never look forward to being close to anyone’s breast, nor I know any of my colleagues or other medical providers (MD, PA, PT, OT, anyone) ever looking forward to seeing anyone naked unless it is strictly necessary.
Feel free to Google on YouTube “Cardiac assessment on female” and you will see this Doctor employed the right technique to move the breast out of the way to listen to your life and care for you. Again, minus having a chaperone in the room and possibly asking you to move it.
Certainly, there are more than a few bad apples in the medical community. All we need to do is to look at the USA gymnastics scandal. Even as this reflects your personal experience, the way you are describing the way he touched your breast, is the way I have seen it demonstrated at school when I was learning that skill.
I’m also disappointed at Medium for pushing this story to the top of the feed, which in my opinion is clickbait. It does not make a concrete accusation, taking validity away from the numerous women who had been victimized by unscrupulous men and erodes from the credibility of medical providers.
