I think stories like this are important because this is how we can move away from the “macho” idea of being a man.
Now, on writing, just write.
I just read a short article about a successful writer who wrote her first novel at the age of 16 and found incredible success. The book was The Outsiders, I forgot the name of the author and I’m in bed and I don’t want to get up nor google it!
The point is that after her success she was unable to write for three years.
Then her now husband told her, write even if anything, two pages a day. And that is how she wrote her second book.
