One would have thought anyone without a criminal record and a college degree should have been able to assume the presidency instead of him.
However, like you said, misogyny runs rampant. And racism runs by its side.
The people decided a self proclaimed self made failed business man should lead them instead of the daughter of scholars who studied instead of doing failed business deals.
A man accused of sexual misconduct, of cheating his wife while pregnant with his offspring who entered the dressing rooms of teenage girls, to a woman who has no natural born children— and that itself disqualified her. But if not that would have been anything else. Her toenails maybe.
Even the UK and Germany had female leaders (no, I don’t sympathize with M. Thatcher). Obviously NZ, but they are light years away from us.
But I guess that for the average American was enough to have a Black man telling them what to do once. They would not let a woman— a Black Woman— do that.
And of course, it looks like Latino men would rather get deported (or having their friends and family gone) than having a woman telling them what to do. They would rather suffer under the Salvadorian gangs than having a Woman telling them how to live their lives. Imagine that!
But I guess he is the father figure a fatherless America craves for. Someone to tell them what to do. We are so used to dysfunction here.
Great piece, Christine.
