Med-surg. Pretty much any non-elective surgery. Which accounts to motor vehicle accidents, pedestrians versus auto, TBIs, ETOH, gunshots.
It is not ICU. They are supposed to be stable by the time they get to me. Most of the time they are.
We are a Level 1 trauma center so often it feels as if most of the problems I encounter could have been solved earlier, years in the past, if society would be different. But the world is what it is. And life is what it is. And I guess we all do the best we can to cope with one another. To try to make sense of what we call life.
