Let’s reduce poverty. This Hunger Games we have created. Let’s at least get a proper Katniss Everdeen.
I think it is about this stupid spirit of self reliance, this wanting to show grit in the face of adversity. This wanting to push harder and harder to not give up.
And then when we notice the reality in which we are. The artificial reality that comes like a hammer to tell us we are not Superman, that we have none of the things they tell us we want, that reminds us how inadequate we are. Then people, I suspect, they need an escape.
I’m sorry for the loss of your friends, Alan. I wish we would have done better. I’m talking as a member of the healthcare community here. I believe, us too, even if we were only nurses, failed at treating this problem.
