I've been reading Octavia Butler, and even though her worlds are far more cruel than yours, the two of you share the idea of being seeds. Well, Octavia thinks of humans as seeds, which of course makes sense that we are the fruits the seeds of the Earth.

The seed that returns to the soil to give itself again. I love the image of being citrus fruit overflowing with fruit, nourishing both the living and the soil.
