It seems this is a global phenomenon. I think we may be moving towards a sort of subscription model in which we are going to be forced to pay in a way or another all through our lives, which now I think about it it’s what many people have now.

Only that until recently, some -plenty- had the option to buy and avoid to pay mortgages/rent till the day they’ll die.

Probably it will go down to how many are able to benefit from this system. Are there going to be enough independent second home owners to support this system, to create a critical mass that supports corporate property ownership?
