I’m still in my 40s, but some of my sick patients are now my age. Granted, they drank their lives away.
The other day while changing a patient I was singing U2. The patient, in his late 70s dying knew the song, my 31 y.o. coworker did not. What a gap!
A few months ago I went to this 100km mountain bike race. One of the legends of the sport now 61 was there racing. He ended 14th overall. I finished four hundred and something. He said “I didn’t sleep well last night at the hotel. That’s why I didn’t do better. As you age, the little things like sleep are important.”
