I think this one comes from some sort of terror people in the US have of being sued.

It seems to me, apologizing in the US equals to an admission of guilt that will later translate in some form of monetary retribution.

And because this society is fundamentally money based (there’s a fee for everything!), people are simply afraid of saying sorry or admitting they made a mistake.

Problem is that if we can’t admit our errors, then there’s no chance of correcting them and then growing from there.
