I think that’s because they are so insecure that produce this sense of distance in others. I wonder if they are also controlling. I mean, one of the great things about science is that it is exact. Easy to predict and therefore yields the illusion of control.

I was heading towards defending the nerds but probably it is a good thing to keep the distance. Unless they are also artsy or something and can acknowledge their vulnerabilities.
