I think I feel your pain.
One of the stories that stayed with me through the years was one of one Robert F Young, Thirty Days Had September. There a family man buys a second hand robot teacher to help with the family chores at home. He eventually engages in meaningful conversation with the robot despite everyone’s distrust of the robot since they had the reputation of physically abuse children in the classroom. In fact, a strategy used to favor TV learning in an age in which no kid used to go to school anymore.
There are thoughts I don’t dare to think.
I think the reason why I loved the book was because the teacher signified the storyteller that will charm the student and make them want to learn about things they never dare to dream.
I think of my best teachers as the ones who trigger my curiosity, the ones who lead me down corridors of libraries, with the ones I shared papers that no one ever cared about.
This was in High School. I never experienced such closeness with college instructors. Maybe I’ve been in the wrong place, or I’ve been unable to wow them.
I hope your voice continues to inspire many regardless of in the classroom or elsewhere.
