I noticed this in many writers I admire.

Maybe it’s about feeling “fake” if we go and try to be cute and friendly when we don’t want to. Maybe we just need to be out there and be ourselves with whom and when we want to. I have nothing to sell so I don’t worry too much, but granted, promoting the work can be challenging.
