I love this. In a way I feel this is about the importance of eating our veggies. Which I started doing as a teenage boy after a lifetime of refusing to eat my mother’s salads. But then I decided I wanted to try to become a cyclist.
Which I didn’t, but who cares. Unless a cyclist is someone who rides bicycles and loves doing so.
Now, a good cyclist… I think there’s a point when the cyclist knows its worth regardless of trophies or not.
Can we say the same of writers?
I guess the ultimate trophy is time. To dwell in the community of writers beyond the sphere of time. Or within whatever is that other dimension where they go.
Now, my daughter surprised me telling me she is reading Dante’s Divine Comedy!
I should follow her example!
Thank you for your writing, Michelle.
