I hope it gives it to you.

I don't know anymore. I think the system is not favorable for anyone. I mean, here we are. We are free labor for Medium. Yes, we get paid a little, but we will never get paid enough in this platform as to pay our mortgage.

Go to literary publications?

Self publishing seems terrible. I don't want to be on Amazon making Bezos rich with the 3 copies I may sell.

I don't know, Carlo. You already went the route of academia which seems the most reasonable route.

In the meantime, writing here reminds me to the singers in the Metro growing up. Singing for a few coins people would throw in their hats.

But,

A few years ago I traveled to Spain to watch this singer-songwriter I admired in my youth and in my opinion seemed to be closer to dying than not. And I always wanted to see him, so I told myself, why not?

My point is that during the concert (you know, full stadium), he starts talking, like if he would be talking to a group of friends in his living room. And he tells us just that, that he began singing in the tunnels of the corridors of the Metro in Madrid or maybe London. It was a very interesting moment, because even when there was a crowd of 20K people, the moment was super intimate and I felt as if he would be talking to me specifically.

And that gave me hope.

Like our friend JD Harms says, write on, Carlo. I would probably just say something like "keep on going."

Again, another super long comment!

Thank you for stopping by, Carlo.
