I agree. It seems that technology, in the best of cases fills a void that itself creates, and by filling it, creates bigger and bigger holes.
Even when technology has the potential to unite humanity, the way it is used, in many cases divide us (see Facebook and the social media designed or used for self promotion at the expense of belittling others).
But I have faith in some elements of technology. I honestly believe there are great poets and story tellers in this platform whom otherwise none of us would know about. Maybe one day Medium writers will be studied as a whole, and not individually. Who knows. In any case, in any society when we see a few great examples, there are a lot who are not so great.
But if anything has achieved this society is to make us all feel inadequate and insecure. And hence we isolate even more. A more natural state is to realize our potentially as human beings and members of society. By writing I feel that we participate in this change in that direction.
Even if as writers all we do is read each other, that tell us that we are not alone in this delusion of playing with words. There’s no need to state, six months ago I had no idea any of this Medium ecosystem existed!
