Dear Jenny, as I was reading your piece (which of course was great), the thought of being a reader came to my mind.

Maybe it is interwoven with the idea of connection you were talking about.

But I feel that as the writer needs to be willing to place herself/himself out there, the reader needs to be willing to receive, to sort of having the antenna in receiving mode.

I am saying this because I just went through a period in which I read nothing. I could not connect with nothing. And I feel this was not the writer/poet fault. A part of me was able to determine “this is good” while another was reading like if I would be scanning a legal document while renting skis. You know they are telling you if you die is your fault but you just want to make sure you are not signing your house away to them.

Anyway, that thought came to me when you talked about connection. Maybe it is not only a poet, but also a reader.
